Burnett Receives Award-25/08/10
In recognition of his Bronze Medal win in the Olympic Trap event at the recent European Championships in Russia, Derek Burnett has received a special award of €5,000 from the Irish Sports Council High Performance Unit. -
50th ISSF World Championships and General Assembly
In addition to the pre-occupation of over two and a half thousand competitors on range with the ISSF World Championships, there were other events taking place in Munich off range during the past week which kept others involved in the international world of shooting sports busy. -
Bronze for Burnett at ESC European Championships-28/06/10
Ireland's three-time Olympian Derek Burnett completed an excellent final to finish in the bronze medal position in the Olympic Trap shooting event at the European Olympic Shooting Championships in Kasan, Russia. -
ISSF World Cup-Italy 2010
At the end of the final day of the Olympic Trap event at the ISSF World Cup in Lonato, Shane Corrigan finished the best of the Irish having scored a total of 117 (24-23-21-24-25) leaving him two targets off contention for a place in the final. -

Alexey Alipov took the Gold medal dropping just two targets in the single barrel final while Xiaokai Yu took the Silver after a sudden death shoot off with David Kostelecky. -

The Olympic Trap event at the opening leg of the 2010 ISSF World Cup season concluded today with Manavjit Sandhu of India claiming the Gold medal in what was a high scoring competition. -
17% increase in ICPSA High Performance Programme grant aid
The Irish Sports Council today announced a 17% increase in High Performance funding to the ICPSA. The award of €70,000 to the programme in these difficult economic times marks a strong level of confidence in the programme and its management team. It reflects positively on the success of the programme to date and is an affirmation of the potential of Irish clay pigeon shooting to be a strong contender at the London 2012 Olympics.

One consistent feature of most shoot dates in Ireland during 2010 has been the wind and on the morning of Friday 20th August not alone was Logues Hill Clay Pigeon Club windswept but was also covered by sheets of rain more resembling a late December day than one in the second half of August. -

An Garda Siochana Annual Fundraiser shoot took place today at the National Shooting Grounds, Ashbourne on one of the hottest days of the year thus far. A stiff breeze kept the heat haze away but did the targets no favours. The club would like to thank everyone who turned out to support them today and all proceeds go to support the Garda team going to the World Police and Fire Services Games in 2011. -
